Wildfires affecting Alberta & British Columbia

A turquoise river flowing through the mountains on The Icefields Parkway

9th August 2024 UPDATE:

The Icefields Parkway (Highway 93N) has re-opened up to the Columbia Icefields, effective today the 9th August 2024.

Radventures has resumed all regular programming and our Icefields Parkway Adventure itinerary will include the Columbia Icefields and stops between Saskatchewan Crossing and the Columbia Icefields area.

As you may be aware, recent wildfires have impacted parts of Alberta and British Columbia (BC), including the communities of Jasper and Jasper National Park.

First and foremost, we are deeply saddened by the devastation in the community of Jasper and Jasper National Park. We are grateful for the swift actions of authorities, which ensured the safe and timely evacuation of all residents & visitors, preventing any human toll. Our thoughts are with everyone affected during this challenging time.

We would like to address the current situation and its impact on our operations:

Banff is safe and our tours are running: As per their update at 10pm Mountain Time on 25th July 2024, Parks Canada has advised us that the Jasper wildfire complex poses no threats to neighbouring communities, including Banff & Lake Louise. Other fire activity in areas of Alberta & BC, also currently pose no threat to public safety or infrastructure within our region of operation. We continue to operate our tours safely and without significant disruption.

Favourable smoke conditions: So far, smoke from the surrounding wildfires has not severely impacted our tours or the town of Banff. We are monitoring the situation closely to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience for all our guests.

We are ready and willing to assist residents and visitors of Jasper who have been displaced by the fires. Our increased operational capacity ensures that we can provide the necessary support during this period.

Our guests safety and satisfaction are our top priorities. We assure you that Banff remains a beautiful and safe destination for your adventures.

Our local community greatly relies on your business and your support helps both to sustain us and support our neighbouring community of Jasper through these times, and we are deeply grateful for your continued patronage. We are currently communicating with Jasper based businesses and residents to see how we can best support them during this time and the difficult times ahead. If you wish to support the disaster response through a donation, you can do so at the Rocky Mountain Community Relief Fund.

We look forward to welcoming you and providing you with an unforgettable experience in the Canadian Rockies.
